That's not the message of these high holidays. Yes, we wipe the slate clean only to make room for some more mistakes. And yes, we carve out a new path only to find ourselves drifting back to our old ways. But we accept that because we understand that having the courage to find a better path is having the courage to risk making new mistakes on the holidays. We return like rubbed and we start over. But this time we do so with knowledge acquired through experience of how to do it better.
