Our society and our Jewish community will get through this. We will persevere. Thank God much has changed for us since the years of the Black Plague when purported Jewish culpability for the pandemic “was broadcast so rapidly that in some places Jews were exterminated even before the plague arrived.”[i] What though of our spirit? That too will survive. Indeed, I believe it will thrive. We will be stronger at the end.
