I remember being in Haiti after the 32:18 earthquake and I was so moved by the 32:20 faith of those thousands of Haitians who 32:23 were living in refugee camps you could 32:27 hear them at night singing and praising 32:30 God and their voice was loud because in 32:34 the face of death and destruction their 32:37 faith in the risen Lord gave them hope 32:40 and joy as we celebrate Easter we 32:45 celebrate the new life that Jesus gives 32:48 us we witness to it when we insist that 32:51 money isn't our ruler 32:54 that self-promotion isn't our king that 32:57 pleasure isn't the fulfilling aim of our 32:59 life and that the ruthless individualism 33:03 of our age can never bring happiness the 33:07 new life of Christ has broken into our 33:10 world and it cannot be contained nor 33:13 restricted nor managed in gate his book 33:17 Faust there's a very dramatic scene 33:21 where Faust has overcome by depression 33:24 and sadness in his contemplating suicide 33:27 when suddenly he hears the easter bells 33:31 the community of faith celebrating the 33:34 resurrection of jesus christ the sound 33:37 pulls him back from the edge and gives 33:40 him hope today in Massachusetts all the 33:45 Christian churches are ringing their 33:47 bells as a sign of the hope and joy that 33:50 Easter brings to us today as we listen 33:54 to the Easter bells realize that it's a 33:57 call to solidarity to all the members of 34:00 our community so that in the face of 34:03 this pandemic we might respond to the 34:06 witness with the power of the 34:08 Resurrection the power of love that's 34:10 stronger than death in the faith in a 34:13 Provident God who always brings good out 34:16 of evil to know the risen Lord is to 34:20 know his love his invitation to lead a 34:24 better life to treat each other with 34:26 greater respect and concern to know 34:30 Jesus resurrection is to understand that 34:33 we too are going to live forever 34:35 in the light of his resurrection
