can’t help but go anywhere in my thinking but to Genesis 22 when the most horrible of all situations occurs. A man is told by God to take the life of his beloved son, covenant son. The man is Abraham, the son is Isaac, and God says, “I want you to take his life.” All Abraham’s hopes and all of his connections to the promise of God were in Isaac.
